Gd3Ga5O12
Gadolinium gallium garnet (Gd3Ga5O12), namely GGG, is a special substrate for magneto-optical thin films YIG or big films. In optical communication equipment, YIG or big film is the core component of 1.3 and 1.5 optical isolators. GGG single crystal substrates with different crystal orientations can achieve the best matching with the crystal lattice of such magneto-optical materials, and GGG has good physical, mechanical and chemical stability, so it can ensure the successful epitaxial growth of thin films. In addition, GGG is also the best substrate material for making microwave isolators.
