Al2O3 also known as white sapphire, is an excellent multifunctional material. Sapphire has good thermal properties, excellent electrical properties and dielectric properties. It not only prevents chemical corrosion, but also has the advantages of high temperature resistance, good heat conduction, high hardness, infrared transmission, and chemical stability. It is the preferred substrate for blue, violet and white light emitting diodes (LED) and blue laser (LD) industries (gallium nitride thin film needs to be epitaxed on the substrate). In addition, high-temperature superconducting thin films such as Y-system and La system and new practical MgB2 superconducting thin films can also be produced.
